Shlomo Stern passed away

Dear All,

With deep regret and sadness I am to share with you the news
of the death of Professor Shlomo Stern, one of the great ISHNE founders – actual father
of our Society and its good spirit.

The great scientist recognized all over the world as well as the pioneer of Holter monitoring passed away. Patients have lost their beloved doctor. People working closely with ISHNE have lost
a friend, a mentor, a warm and good man.

It is hard to imagine that at the next BOT meeting he will not speak, as usual, quietly, wisely
and as the last one – summarizing discussions and proposing good Solomon solution.

With deep regret

Ryszard Piotrowicz
President of ISHNE

In memory of Shlomo

Founding Nucleus of ISHNE.

This is a huge loss for our community and all the relatives who knew Shlomo. A brilliant scholar, editor, lecturer and a man with a great sense of humor. He was wise and simple. For many years he was co-editor of ANE and I think it would be wise to remember himestablish a prize or scholarship associated with the journal (for the best article of the year or something like that). My deepest condolences to all the relatives and Nurit. We also lost a loved one. Leonid

prof. dr. Leonid Makarov M.D., Ph.D.

Please accept my deepest condolences

Twenty years ago, when I was just a starter in Cardiology training, Prof. John Gialafos introduced me to the pioneer of Holter monitoring, his good friend Prof. Shlomo Stern. All these twenty years, I have realized myself how valuable Prof. Stern was for the medical community, his patients and the ISHNE family. As a last memory of this warm and sincere teacher, I will keep his willingness to share his thoughts and scientific observations with all of us, even during our wait for departure from Timisoara airport to our countries, last June.

Please accept my deepest condolences.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and leader, Shlomo.  He lived a full life, and hopefully this will ease his family’s pain.

Many of us have been through this with our beloved father or mothers, and I want to let his family knows that the loss of Shlomo’s family is shared. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

From a personal point of view, I remember very well the first time I met Shlomo in 1977, he offered me his book Ambulatory ECG Monitoring dedicated to his wife Nurit and his daughter Yael. I enjoyed so much her daughter’s name that my oldest daughter received her name.

Find below a brief summary of his career, that I presented at the time I offered him the Senior Investigator Award in Yokohama, Japan, in 2009
